NICHOLAS BEER
PORTRAIT PAINTER

On graduating in Fine Art and Art History, Nick went to Florence in 1992 to study at the Charles H. Cecil Studios, where he became senior instructor. He returned to England in 2002 to establish the Sarum Studio and pursue his interest in portraiture and art-historical writing. Nick has exhibited widely in the UK, while commissions have taken him throughout Europe and the U.S.

Nick has taught at the Prince of Wales Drawing School in London, and in Norway, Copenhagen, Jersey and Mexico City. He continues to teach regularly at the Cecil Studios in Florence. Nick had a series of essays published in The Artist magazine in 2005, and is currently working on a book about sight-size portrait painting. Hs work was exhibited at the Royal Society of Portrait Painters in 2007.
